What do you think of this remix of The Gossip’s Love Long Distance? I don’t think it’s my favourite of his but it’s sure to be a hit, right? It’s got all the typical Fake Blood beeps and blips and is a pretty heavy and wicked track, anyone got a longer edit?
Just a general update on musical things to come tonight kicking off with a selection of songs to keep your feet moving right through the summer, well, for at least half an hour anyway:
It’s strange when they take the main selling point out of a song (the tune of Echo Beach), but this one really works – MPHO’s Box and Locks remixed by Sermstyle is below…
When Kids Go Machine have been gigging around for a little while now, hailing from Denmark they make spacey, syn-thy, Scandinavian, alternative pop. If that makes sense. The singer has a slight Antony Hegarty style vocals, albeit slightly less dramatic and vengeful, but equally as weird.
“Filter are holding a competition to remix my track “No Pins Allowed.” I’m going to listen to everyone sent through and I’ll be picking the winner…no bribes please. although I do have a penchant for waffles. (damn I should have made that something big like my obsession with Lamborghini’s...oh well).”
A really lovely article with Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine fame in todays Telegraph magazine. Click here to have a read about her growing up in London, and who she sang at in the toilet of a club to become what she is now.
Some ‘thumping’ remixes for you to see you through our sunny weekend ahead, whilst I work, inside, behind closed doors. And what better way to sum up the following re-mixers extraordinaries other than proper reviewers:
“Villains are an LA party machine, revving up tracks like ‘Hunting For Witches’ into full-on bangers.” Vice Magazine
“L.A. remix duo extracts a few key slivers from Michael Jackson’s disco-werewolf epic and creates a blissfully stuttery electro-funk strut that Daft Punk should snap up anon.” Spin Magazine
I love how Little Boots has released her new song with two awesome remixes before anyone has heard the finished song. Intentional or not, it’s getting some proper blog hype. From some previously amazing remixes on her other songs, to these two, both brilliant and completely different. I don’t know which I prefer more, Fred Falke in his usual chilled out style focusing on the lyrics a bit more, and Drop the Lime adding some extra edge.. Take a listen and decide for yourselves.
