Sarah Jaffe

28 Feb

So i’ve really got back in to listening to female led folk music the last few weeks. One of the records I can’t stop playing is Sarah Jaffes’ Suburban Nature EP due to be released in May this year which is just amazing.

Jaffe comes from Texas and citing influences like Cat Stevens and Broken Social Scene you get an idea of the reason why Jaffe plays music as mesmerizing as Laura Marling’s original offerings with more music than vocals and a bit of a passion for giving her songs a depth with some string instruments other than the guitar. It’s a real delight.

I know! She’s got a kind of ‘rawness’ to her, which sounds a bit slushy but I’m using it anyway.
