Blue Jeans

19 Sep

New York newcomer Lizzy Grant should have caught the attention of most music fans by now, if not, here is her new single Blue Jeans that should sell you on all that Hype. Years ago described herself as a ‘gangster Nancy Sinatra’ (which she now regrets) you can kind of see the inspiration there, husky hip hop beats in the most soulful of ways instantly suck you in.

Look out for double A/Side of Blue Jeans and Videogame out on 7″ on the 17th October. Pre-order here.

Ahhh RAC, the remix Kings from France, Portugal and the US. Always reinventing a song to make you dance just that little bit further than the original version. They’ve just remixed a great tune from Gigamesh, which is probably in line to be one of my favourite electro-y remixes of the year.

This is Beatrice.

A little while ago she released an album under the name of Coeur de Pirate which is French (Canadian) for Pirate Heart. It’s pure pop, in that way that only French singers can do, she makes herself sound truly innocent and urges you to want to learn how to speak French. It almost makes you forget about her past as a nude model. But hey, we all start somewhere.

There’s something I find really amazing about old vocals with new music, like 2Manydj’s do so well, as well as SonnyJ, Dangermouse and the Avalanches to name but a few. White Label are the new(ish) kids on the block with their second album Stolen Voices, they sample everyone from Bowie to the great song Jean1 with the Supremes.

So the album is available to download from SoundCloud which is pretty generous. Here you are:

Captain Cuts remixes Beastie Boys and Beyonce. Enough said.

Girls! – Beastie Boys vs. Beyonce

Also, if for some KeRaZy reason you haven’t seen this, it’s Fight For Your Right revisited with a great video and shed loads of the ‘cool’ celebrities that are ok to be in a music video:

Come On Over.

London four-piece Veronica Falls sound like they’re from New York, with a real Velvet Underground feel and some fantastic vocals that also make you feel like you want to roll down Hampstead Heath and celebrate everything about being from London. They’re currently touring, and playing in London later this year, click the picture below to get yourselves tickets for the Lexington.
